THE ODR PHOTOSHOP CONTEST

If you’ve been hanging around OilersNation for any length of time you know that I love doing photoshop contests. Not only do I dig seeing what you guys will come up with, but I also like the idea of giving stuff away for a contest that is always hilarious. You guys crush these things, and I’m excited about these things. This time around, we’ve stepped up the prizes and I promise you that you’re going to want to be a part of this one. Whoever wins this contest is coming with us on the Nation trip to the outdoor game in Winnipeg thanks to our friends at AMA Travel. 

I know you guys would normally be expecting the Mailbag right now, but we’re giving that a break this week to make way for the pre-season roundtable (coming up tomorrow). 

A contest without a theme is like the Oilers without Connor McDavid, it’s anarchy. Frankly, you animals need some direction and I’m here to give it to you. The theme of this particular photoshop contest is… The Outdoor Rink. Makes sense, right? Of course, it does. It just seemed obvious. 

So what exactly does an ODR themed contest mean? You tell me. I don’t really care if your photoshop shows Connor shovelling snow off of the ODR, or has Lil Nugey learning to skate – that’s up to you. I’m just looking to be entertained and for hero to emerge. I’m looking for a champion that will join us in Winnipeg, ready for a weekend of shenanigans and liver punishment. It takes a special character to fly to Winnipeg solo, and party with a bunch of strangers. 

TL;DR

Your photoshops have to have something to do with an outdoor rink. Easy enough? Cool.

As always, the rules for the contest are simple… You create an original photoshop that fits within the theme of the Outdoor Rink. That’s it – everything else is up to you. I just ask that you use your creativity to make up something cool. All I ask is that you try to make it as entertaining as humanly possible. I don’t want to learn anything, and I doubt anyone else does either. If you’re going to win this prize you’re going to have to earn it.  

The deadline to enter the contest will be Thursday (October 13th) at 11:59pm. I know that’s not much time, but we’re running on a tight timeline here. Anything that comes in past the deadline will be disqualified, and I mean it, for real, this time. To submit your entry just email it to me at baggedmilk@oilersnation.com. From there, I will take the five or six (maybe more) best entries and throw them up for a vote. The rest will be put up on our Facebook page/Instagram. 

Make sense? Good. You’re all smart people. 

As I mentioned, we wanted to step our game up with the prizes for this contest and I think we’ve done that. 

As always, I’ll set up a poll early next week to get the voting done. One thing I’ll mention is if you plan on entering the contest, be sure you’re able to leave for Winnipeg in two weeks because we goin’. As a note, flights leave from Edmonton on the Saturday morning. 

Now go forth, fire up your photoshop machine, kill some company, and get to work before the deadline comes around. There is no limit to how many entries you can submit, so the more you submit the better chance you’ll have at sending a winner. Good luck, Nation. May the force be with you, but mostly with me.
