Thursday has rolled around again and that means it’s time to throw it back to some more hockey history. Playoff hockey has officially started this season and we’re talkin’ playoff records from the past. Let’s take a look back at what the week of April 6-12 had in store for hockey fans:

April 11, 2007: Ten years ago, Canucks fans began watching a playoff game and it didn’t end until the next day because their game against Dallas went into quadruple overtime. Most people would think of the fatigue of the players, getting to watch two games in one, etc. and I’m over here thinking of those poor souls that were at General Motors Place and were unable to drink beer during a playoff hockey game because sales ceased after the second intermission. The horror.

April 7, 2002: For the first time in his career, Jarome Iginla scores 50 goals, becoming the first and only player to do so in the 2001-02 season.

April 12, 1996: The Jets played their final regular-season game in franchise history and clinched a playoff berth with a win against the Kings. Keith Tkachuk became the third player in Jets’ history to score 50 goals in a season.

April 8, 1982: The Jets earned their first ever playoff win since joining the league in 1979.

April 12, 1945: Rookie goalie, Frank McCool (what a name) sets a playoff record against the Red Wings with his third consecutive shutout.

April 11, 1964: Talk about a buzzer beater! Bob Pulford nets one at 19:58 of the third period in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final to set the record for latest game-winning goal.

April 9, 1963: Dick Duff scores two quick ones in the first 1:08 of the game to set the NHL playoff record for fastest two goals scored from the start of a game.

April 6, 1969: At 44, Johnny Bower becomes the oldest goaltender to play a playoff game.

April 6, 2002: Mats Sundin scores the 395th goal of his career and becomes the leading Swedish-born NHL player.

April 12, 1982: Miracle on Manchester. Oilers fans are no stranger to late-game collapses, but in 1982 the Oilers blew a 5-0 lead over the LA Kings. The Oilers were heavily favoured to win that series, but would lose it after one of the biggest collapses in NHL playoff history.

April 12 1987, 1988: Wayne Gretzky sure liked this day. In 1987 and 1988 Gretzky had one goal and four assists in both games in both years in the Smythe Division Semifinals.

April 9, 1987: Gretzky picks up six assists to tie the single-game playoff record and passed Beliveau for (then) most points in Stanley Cup play when he picks up his 177th point (he finished his career with 382 playoff points).

April 7, 1982: ALL THE GOALS! The Oilers and the Kings combine for a total of 18 goals (10-8 win for the Kings) setting a single-game Stanley Cup Playoff record.

April 6, 1986: An all too familiar trophy for Oilers fans this season – Wayne Gretzky wins his sixth straight Art Ross Trophy with an NHL record of 215 points.

April 12, 1996: The Red Wings set an NHL record with their 61st win of the season against the Blackhawks and tied an NHL record (also held by the Flyers) with their 36th home victory.

April 12, 2008: 46-year-old Chris Chelios played in his 248th playoff game, breaking Patrick Roy’s record set in 2003.

April 11, 1936: The good times started rolling as the Red Wings won their first ever Stanley Cup.

April 8, 1961: Gordie Howe picks up two assists to hit 61 and grab the record for most Stanley Cup Playoff assists
