Over at Sportsnet, they put together a compilation of the Top 10 best Edmonton Oilers plays from the 2019-20 season and I thought it was fun to revisit these plays and scratch the itch for hockey highlights.
For a lot of Oilers fans, this past season has been the most fun we’ve been able to have in a while and it was a good time to look back at the some of the plays that made it so special. From Connor and Leon doing their thing to one of the most exciting episodes of the Battle of Alberta that we’ve seen in years, this past season has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs and I’m very much looking forward to the day when we’re able to watch our boys again.

Watch the video below:

After watching this highlight pack, it was amazing how many different plays and moments that I had forgotten. Some moments, like the BOA scraps from back on February 1st, were fresh in my mind while others had simply slipped away into the ether. For me, the guy with a memory of a goldfish, I will never get enough of watching Oilers highlights, especially from fun times like we had this past season. As for the finale, I don’t know about you guys, but I absolutely knew which play was going to land at the top of the list. Connor McDavid’s goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs was not only magical to watch but the fact that it also happened in Toronto was the cherry on the sundae.

Notable Ommission:

While I know it’s hard to put together a Top-10 list and not miss out on some amazing plays, I wanted to give my own special mention to this incredible goal by the late Colby Cave that happened against the Pittsburgh Penguins back in November. After picking up the puck at his own blue line, Cave went coast to coast, pushed past the defender with a rush of speed, and closed out the play by outwaiting Matt Murray and sliding the puck past him for a brilliant finish.
