Vegas has Edmonton Favoured to Win the Stanley Cup

If you care what Las Vegas thinks the Edmonton Oilers are now the favourites to win the Stanley Cup.

According to VegasInsider.com, the Edmonton Oilers have three-to-one odds to win the Stanley Cup after taking a 2-0 series lead over the Anaheim Ducks. The defending champion, Pittsburgh Penguins, currently sport the second-best odds at seven-to-two which seems wild to me.

I’m not really a betting guy myself, but just seeing the Oilers as the Vegas favourite to win the Cup is kind of blowing my mind right now. At the beginning of the year, people were questioning whether or not they would even be able to make the playoffs let alone become Cup favourites. Now, I know that being Cup favourites in Vegas doesn’t actually have anything to do with winning the thing, but it’s another one of those moments that seems like a fever dream when you remember that the Oilers finished in 29th last year.

With Game 3 coming up tomorrow at 5PM (MST) back at Rogers Place the Oilers could really put a stranglehold on the series if they can find a way to win another one. My friends, these are strange days but it’s the kind of confusion that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
