It’s starting to look very likely that NHL players will be heading to Beijing for the 2022 Olympics.
When the NHL and the NHLPA agreed to an extension for the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, part of the agreement was that the league would allow players to represent their countries at the Olympics in 2022 and 2026.
There remain a couple of obstacles in the way (including the NHL and the IOC reaching a deal and the Games actually happening, which is, of course, a concern due to the COVID-19 pandemic) but this is certainly a step in the right direction.
After opting to skip the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, this will be our first opportunity to see Team Canada ice its strongest roster since winning back-to-back Gold Medals in Vancouver in 2010 and Sochi in 2014. It’ll also be our first chance to watch Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid, the stars of this generation, play together on hockey’s biggest international stage.
So, what might the rest of Team Canada look like at the Beijing Olympics come 2022?
