YWCA Edmonton will be holding the 4th annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event on September 10th, 2013 and for the first year OilersNation is proud to be a sponsor of the event. Does this mean that certain people around NationHQ will have to wear sexy stilettos and strut about Churchill Square? Oh yeah.

Does that include Jason Gregor? Big time.

The Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event is looking to raise $100,000 to provide family violence prevention and recovery programs including continued funding of a Counselling Centre, Lakseside Haven family violence healing retreats and the GirlSpace youth empowerment program.

Engaging men and boys in bringing more attention to this matter is a key part of the solution. 1 in 4 Alberta women are victims of domestic violence if you can fathom that. On any given day, more than 200 Alberta women will seek protection from a shelter or transition home.

Events like the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes are a key part of raising funds and bringing awareness to this issue in Alberta.

As a sponsor of the event we are also gonna field the coolest team in all of Edmonton. Team OilersNation includes our Captain Jason Gregor, Brian Sutherby and the NationHQ crew as well as some assorted ne’er do wells and vagabonds we have met on this journey of life.
