We Want to Sponsor Your Hockey Team

When I was a kid, I used to hang out in the back yard, at my parents’ place, and rip tennis balls at the fence. I would be out there for hours, convinced that I was going to end up in the NHL. Obviously that didn’t happen. I ended up blogging about the game I was so sure I was going to play for a living. Luckily, a lot of us are still able to play hockey for the love of the game, and we think you should be rewarded for your dedication.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, BRUH?
Luckily, my lack of skills (and overall genetics) didn’t mean that I had to stop playing hockey altogether, and it didn’t stop you guys either. All over the country, we still have guys (and ladies) strapping on the skates at ungodly hours of the night just because they want to play hockey. Not only are many of us showing up tired for work after an 11pm ice slot, we’re actually paying for the chance to do it. We are so obsessed with playing hockey that we will literally deprive ourselves of sleep and money just to keep playing. It’s a beautiful thing!
Because you’re so willing to keep playing the game you love, we decided that your dedication to hockey should be rewarded. We want to salute the people that are willing to strap on the skates at ungodly hours, and still make it to work, on time, the next morning. What does it all mean? We want to provide these teams with shoulder patches for your jerseys, courtesy of Oodle Noodle and Print Machine. On top of that, we’ll also be providing each team with 2 kegs for your windup party, courtesy of Kegs and More.

As if that’s not awesome enough, we’re also going to help you promote your team. If you guys are making a push for your league playoffs, we want to hear about it. If your team has a Twitter account, we’ll help get you followers. To be eligible for sponsorship, your team has to be available to bring the jerseys to Print Machine (8124 Gateway Boulevard NW) to have the patches attached, and you also (obviously) have to be of legal drinking age. If your team meets the criteria, we will literally be taking the first 15 teams that email me your team name, where you play, and how many guys are on the team.

If you want to get involved with team OilersNation, click here and follow the registration prompts. Once you’ve registered, you will be asked if you want to continue as an individual or to join a team. You will click ‘team’ and enter OilersNation in the search box. After you’ve registered, you will be given a link to pass along to family and friends to bring them to your donation page. Everyone that joins our team will receive a free Nation Gear tee as part of the fun.
If you can’t make it, and still want to get involved, you can donate money directly to the cause or by sponsoring a walker not unlike myself. If you need another reason to donate, every donation over $20 does get a tax receipt, as well, so you really can’t lose by getting involved. So make it happen! Join our team, sponsor a walker with a few schillings, or even just come down and support us as we try our best not to fall down. We hope to see you there!
