One of my favourite things about being a part of the Nation is easily the events we throw as an excuse to get everyone together. Whether it’s a party like we had last Saturday, a charity drive to support a local initiative, or any other event we’ve come up with over the years, the Nation’s support is always incredible and that’s why we keep looking for more ways to get us all in the same room.
Back in November, we put together our second Nation Road Trip to Calgary to go watch the boys and, despite the loss, it ended up being one of the best weekends we’ve had in a long time. Yeah, the team lost which is always a bummer and the coach ended up getting fired the day after we got back, but the time spent with the fine folks that filled our bus more than made for the loss. So when we started talking about doing this trip for the third time, it really was an easy decision. Fortunately, our friends at Backside Tours felt the same way, and that kicked off the planning for round three.
One of my favourite things to do in life is going to live hockey games, and to do it with 50 rowdy Nation citizens takes things to another level. On both of our trips, the bus ride down to Calgary has been ridiculous, our section at the rink was rowdy, and it was incredible to spend the weekend with so many awesome people that make this community what it is. As I was putting this article together, I looked back through #NationRoadTrip hashtag we’ve been using and I burst out laughing at some of the absurdity that we got up to, and I can’t tell you how excited I am to do it all over again.
Basically what I’m trying to tell you is that you need to be on this trip. I don’t care whether you have to bail on work, your uncle Kevin’s birthday, or ship the kids off to some kind of camp for the weekend just what you need to do to get yourself on this bus. If you do, I promise that you won’t regret it.

THE DETAILS…

As is the case every time we do a trip like this, it was important for us to try and make this weekend as cheap as possible and to announce it as early as we could to give you as much time as we could to sort out the life details. Based on the last two times we’ve done this trip, this is a weekend that you really don’t want to miss and to get a little silly with 50 of your fellow citizens while behind enemy lines takes everything to another level. And since I already know that you want to be there with us, let’s get to the details, shall we? Cool? Cool.

Give me the details, guy:

  • When? Saturday, April 6th, 2019
  • How much? The depends on how many people are coming with you. To put it another way, we’ve got a range of options including single occupancy ($335/person) up to groups of four ($250/person).
  • Why? Because we love to party
  • Where do you buy tickets? Right here, friend. But be warned, just like the last time we did this, the trip sold out quickly and procrastinating will be your enemy.

What your ticket gets you:

  • Entry to the Dome (April 6th)
  • Transportation to and from Calgary (starting in Edmonton, also stopping in Red Deer for lunch/pickup)
  • Accommodations at the Calgary Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre
  • Prizes, Giveaways & Entry to our pre-game party at the Brewhouse
One thing that bears repeating is that this trip will sell out just like the two before it. The bus only has room for 50 people and once those spots are gone they’re gone. If you think this trip will be something you want to be a part of, and it really should be, then I would encourage you to act as quickly as possible or you will miss out. Make sense? Of course, it does.
