With the official start of summer just around the corner and the Oilers out of the playoffs, it seems like the perfect time to talk a little baseball. No, this article isn’t about hockey, but it is about having a great time in the sun with a beer in your hand, and we can get behind that.

Last summer, we formed a partnership with our friends at the Edmonton Prospects and it went so well that we all decided to renew this summer fling for the 2017 season. Remember when John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John sang Summer Love to each other at the beginning of Grease? It’s kinda like that. What that means for you fine folks is that we’ll have tickets to give away for the Nation Box, NationGear contests, and two Nation-themed nights (more on that later) at the ballpark where we’ll have all kinds of giveaways and hijinx planned. Sound fun? Of course it does.

If you’ve never spent any at the ballpark in your day, the 2017 Prospects season is a great time to remedy that void in your life. Spending a day at RE/MAX Field is a great way to spend your time without breaking the bank. What I’m saying is that you can round up the boys/girls, take your family for a night out, and you won’t have to worry about spacing on your mortgage payment. How can you say no to fun at a reasonable price? You can’t. Not to mention, after spending the last six months inside you can probably use to some Vitamin D and sun on your nearly translucent skin. I’m not judging – I’m in the same boat.

Getting a bronze aside, the Prospects have plenty of theme days and other cool events planned that you’ll want to be a part of during the summer. From a Nation standpoint, we’ll be rounding up the crew from HQ to attend as many of them as possible so keep your eye out for us in our box down the first base line. Once again, the Prospects gave us our own Nation box for this season and we’re once again planning on taking full advantage. I encourage you to check out the schedule and find some dates that work for you, and to keep an eye out for us whenever you’re at the game because we’ll have all kinds of Nation swag and Oodle Noodle GCs to give away anytime we’re there.

The first game of the year is this coming Friday (get tickets here), and a bunch of the Nation crew will be at RE/MAX Field to support the boys as they open their season up against Brooks. The Prospects had an amazing season last year, coming up just short in the league finals, losing to Swift Current. This year, we plan to cheer on the boys and drink in their honour until they reign supreme as WMBL champs.

We want to see some Nation Citizens get out to the RE/MAX Field this summer and that’s why they’ve given us TWO (TWO!) of our very own nights at the ballpark to have some fun and get you guys involved. The first is happening on Thursday, June 29th (7:05pm) which happens to be $4 beer night, and the second is on Saturday, July 29th (7:05pm).

Just like we did last year, we’ll be giving away plenty of free NationGear to those in attendance at both of the Nation games and we’ll also give some away to peeps that attend a game and send me some photos of themselves rocking their NationGear at the ballpark.
