Edmonton hockey fans, get excited. We will have another chapter in the USA/Canada hockey rivalry settled in our own back yard come Dec. 17 of this year.
It’ll be the final (save the best for last) stop in their six-city tour of North America before they embark for PyeongChang and the Olympic games.
With the NHL players not being allowed to go to the games, the focus will surely and rightfully so shift equally towards the women’s game and tournament. The long established rivalry between these ladies being a huge reason why. The Canadian women having grown up going head to head with their American counterparts year after year. The games will be fast paced and highly contested.
The Canadian women are the defending Olympic champions (2014 in Sochi) but have struggled against the rival States in recent years at the World Championships, having lost in the last four finals to the Americans.
Our women will look to buck this trend and take back hockey dominance in South Korea in February 2018.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. MT.
Come on out and cheer on fan favorite and scoring dynamo Marie-Philip Poulin, Edmonton’s own Shannon Szabados, and exciting new part of the team (and cousin of Kia and Darnell Nurse) Sarah Nurse as they take on the American’s squad in our house.
