With the 2021 postseason officially underway, there’s a number of ex-Edmonton Oilers taking part in the post-season. So today, let’s take a team by team look at just which former Oilers are where.

None. There’s no former Edmonton Oilers on the Leafs roster heading into the post-season, although defenceman Martin Marincin is in the organization. He’s spent his time with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, where he’s appeared in 12 games scoring five points.

Montreal has one former Edmonton Oiler on their roster in defenceman Jeff Petry. He’s had a strong season for the Habs being second in team scoring with 12 goals and 42 points in 55 games. It’s been one of the best seasons of his career for the now-33 year old defenceman.

The Oilers traded him to Montreal in 2015 for a second round pick and a fourth round pick. While the Oilers later traded the second rounder, Edmonton used the fourth round selection to take Caleb Jones.

Much like the Habs, Winnipeg also has only one former Oiler on their roster in goaltender Laurent Brossoit. He’s appeared in 14 games for the Jets this year posting a 6-6 record and a .918 save percentage.

Originally acquired by the Oilers in a 2013 trade with the Calgary Flames, the Oilers chose not to re-sign Brossoit after the 2017 season despite him posting solid numbers that year in Edmonton.

Ah, the Bruins. They have one former Edmonton Oiler on their roster in the much talked about Taylor Hall. After a sluggish start to the year with the Buffalo Sabres scoring 19 points in 37 games, Hall was dealt to the Bruins at the NHL’s trade deadline. Since then, he blew up offensively like many, including myself, expected scoring eight goals and 14 points in 16 games.

Originally drafted by the Oilers 1st overall in the 2010 draft, Hall was dealt to the New Jersey Devils in 2016 for Adam Larsson.

Much like nearly every other team, the Capitals have one former Oiler on their roster: defenceman Justin Schultz. He inked a two-year, $4-million deal with the Caps this past offseason and scored 27 points in 46 games.

Schultz signed with the Edmonton Oilers as a NCAA free agent in the 2012, but the club traded him four years later to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a third round pick later used to select Filip Berglund.

While he never played in a game for the Oilers, defenceman John Marino was drafted by the Oilers in the sixth round of the 2015 draft. This year, he appeared in 52 games scoring three goals and 13 points.

He opted to not sign with the team after a NCAA career, and Edmonton traded him to the Pens for a sixth round pick in the 2021 daft.

The lone long Islander that used to play on the Oilers is none other than fan favorite Jordan Eberle. Eberle, who turned 31 Saturday, has played in 55 games for the Islanders this year scoring 16 goals and 17 assists.

Drafted in the first round 22nd overall in 2008, the Oilers traded Eberle to the Islanders in exchange for Ryan Strome in 2017.

Colorado has one former Oiler on their roster in goaltender Devan Dubnyk. He has appeared in 22 games this year posting a 6-11-2 record and a .895 save percentage. He was traded mid-season from the San Jose Sharks to the Avs.

Dubnyk, 35, was drafted by the Oilers 14th overall in the 2004 draft and played five years with the team before being traded for Matt Hendricks in 2014.

St. Louis has one former Oiler in David Perron on heir roster. This year, he’s appeared in 56 games with the Blues scoring 19 goals and 58 points.

He played parts of two seasons with the team between 2013 and 2015. He was originally acquired along with a 3rd round pick in 2015 for a second round pick, a fourth round pick, and Magnus Paajarvi. Edmonton traded him in 2015 to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a first round pick later sent to the Islanders in the Griffin Reinhart trade and Rob Klinkhammer.

The lone Golden Knight who played in Edmonton is Tomas Jurco, who played 12 games for the Oilers last year before his season was ended due to hip surgery. Jurco has appeared in eight games this year scoring one asist.

Cam Talbot is the lone former Oiler on the Wild roster. This year he’s appeared in 33 games for Minnesota posting a 19-8-5 record and a .915 save percentage.

He spent four years with the Oilers after being acquired by the club in a 2015 trade. The Oilers later traded him in 2019 to the Philadelphia Flyers for Anthony Stolarz.

Nashville has one former Oiler on their roster in Matt Benning. He appeared in 53 games for the Preds this year scoring one goal and four points.

Benning played four seasons for the Oilers after signing as a free agent in 2016. The Oilers chose to not re-sign him this last year.

The Lightning have one former Oiler in Pat Maroon. He’s appeared in 55 games for the club this year scoring four goals and 18 points.

Maroon played parts of three seasons with the Oilers and was acquired by the team in a 2016 trade. Edmonton ended up trading him to the New Jersey Devils in 2018 for a 3rd round pick.

The Canes and Panthers both have no former Oilers on their roster.
