Calgary’s assets belong to the NYI’s , 2018 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and 2019 2nd round pick and a lost pick for re signing Stone and the Oiler’s as they picked Stuart Skinner ( very promising goalie) with Arizona’s pick via calgary. Kind of looks like the flames should be trading for some assets.

Well you are not going to aquire any assets for a long long time giving up those picks. Flames sign 36 year old Smith. Oilers pick Skinner thank you. NYI’s will have 2 lottery draft picks in 2018, Thank You .

My understanding is Flames have 3 high rated goalie prospects, all very young. That would lend itself to aquiring an older starter like Smith with fewer years remaining. Oilets don’t have much behind Talbot with exception of LB. Try looking at the big picture. In addition, assets are not only aquired via lottery draft picks. However, an Oiler fan who is used to living off lottery picks would not know any other way so I am not surprised by your comments.

What? flamed out. Oilers have 2 Goaltenders that could possibly play for Team Canada. Wells and Skinner. Oiler’s have an abundance of goalies that are not 36 years old! The Oilers’ goaltending pool is one of the strongest in the NHL. The Big picture is the flames will not make a wildcard spot and Burke will be the GM by Christmas and packaging up gifts to the rest of the NHL at trade deadline. NYI’s will have 2 lotterry pick’s, Thank You.
