I really wish we had injuries to blame for this crappy season. We always have injuries to blame! Of course the one season we don’t really have many severe, long term injuries is the season we just underperform, plain and simple.
Give it to Nuge! I know he's not playing I just miss him. -bm pic.twitter.com/vP7pIZpE1y

The Nuge injury is obviously a pretty big deal but I’m afraid it’s probably too late to be crying over it. Nuge cracked some ribs after a big hit from Brayden McNabb on Connor McDavid’s birthday in Vegas. It’s been three weeks since and that means we’re a bit closer to Nuge’s return. Hopefully, he’ll be playing by the end of February, but at this point, I don’t see a reason to rush him.
With Nuge missing a large chunk of the last half of the season, do you think this will favour him in reference to the trade rumours going around? Whether they have legitimacy or not, there has obviously been rumours about trading him as his contract comes to an end. I personally can’t see it happening but you never know with these things nowadays. You know they will eventually want to shed some salary down the road, and Nuge seems like the target for some reason. You better not touch him, Pete!
Is Nuge’s absence proving to Chia that we can’t succeed without him? Or is it proving to him that we’re able to succeed with some different line combinations? I honestly have no idea what goes through Pete’s mind so I’m not even going to try to guess this one.
Sometimes I wish the NHL season was played during the summer so we wouldn’t have to worry about people getting sick so often. I mean, it can’t be good for hockey players out of Edmonton to travel to California for a few days, then back up to Canada in -30 degree weather, then back to Arizona for a day, etc, etc? I don’t care how healthy you are, your body can only take so much.
In the last two weeks, we had Zack Kassian and Cam Talbot both come down with an Illness that took them out for one game. Again, at this point of the season are we too worried about 24-hour flus? Not really. But it’s still annoying.
Friday vs. Anaheim
Patrick Eaves was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome back in October. Guillain-Barre syndrome is a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system. There’s been no update on Patrick since then but he’s believed to be resting comfortably and in good care. We wish him the best!
John Gibson is also out of the Duck lineup with a lower body injury Two days ago the Ducks also placed John Gibson on the IR with a lower body injury. This could be a good thing for us tonight as Ryan Miller has been having a pretty average season.
Saturday vs. San Jose
Joe Thornton – Knee Joe Thornton injured his MCL back in January and will miss the next several weeks because of it. The Sharks have gone 2-4 since Thornton has been out so this could be a good thing for us.
Monday vs. Florida
With Roberto Luongo still on the IR with a lower-body injury since December, and James Reimer also out with a groin injury since January, I was really looking forward to playing against Harri Sateri on Monday. Mainly because that name is hilarious and I’ve never heard of him before. BUT unfortunately, it looks like Reimer is due to return to the Panthers lineup tomorrow. So we could very well see him play on Monday.
