I need to preface this article by saying that yes, I understand that the Oilers are not in the playoffs this year and the Ducks are. They earned more points than us in the regular season, I get it.
BUT I don’t care what you say about me being a salty Oilers fan because that’s exactly what I am! I hate the Ducks with a burning passion, and I’m absolutely ecstatic that they’re about to be swept by the Sharks.
In all honesty, I really thought the Ducks would be performing better in the playoffs this year but I’m not sad that they’re doing the opposite. Actually, I even chose a couple of Ducks players in my fantasy pool, thinking they were going to go further than Round 1. I hated myself for it, but you gotta do what you gotta do to win that prize money, right?

Last night, the Ducks got blown out 8-1 at the SAP Centre and it was a beautiful thing to watch. The Sharks’ attack was relentless and they poured it on in the third period and didn’t let up until the buzzer went. What made the game even more entertaining was that the Ducks turned into the dirty team we hate and despise in the third period and got absolutely demolished for it. Their frustration boiled over and it led to three power play goals for the Sharks in the third. How wonderful is that?
I liked how Sharks ran up score in 3rd period. If opposition wants to keep taking dumb penalties in playoffs, make them pay. Sharks scored three PP goals in 3rd, including two in final three minutes. In NHL playoffs never let foot off gas.

Take a look at Corey Perry’s cross check (below) in the third period. Maybe he was trying to send a message for game four, or MAYBE he was just acting like a dummy? Tough to tell with the Ducks these days because their skill is often outweighed by their reliance on being dirty. A little bit later on, Ryan Getzlaf followed up on Perry’s penalty with a misconduct penalty for mouthing off to the referees, and nothing makes me happier than seeing the Sharks walk all over the Ducks during an epic collapse.
Again, you’ve gotta love playoff matchups. If it wasn’t for the disastrous Oilers/Ducks series last year, I might not have the hate for them as I do today. BUT I’ll never be able to erase the awful memory of Ryan Kesler holding Cam Talbot’s pad as the Oilers gave up a 3-0 lead in the third period and that brings my schadenfreude to an all-time level. I still have nightmares about that blown lead and may for the rest of my life, and the only thing I can do is hate on the Ducks.

As if their constant unravelling wasn’t enough, I also want to share an angry comment from a Ducks fan that I read last night on Reddit. It seems like the whole league loves to hate on Getzlaf and Perry, but to see their own fanbase throw them under the bus too? It puts a smile on my face!
We had an interesting conversation this morning at NationHQ on whether or not the Ducks are going to blow their team up this offseason and I’d love to get your thoughts too. Has their time to push for a Cup officially run out? Is this the end of the Ducks reign on the Pacific Division? Only time will tell but I know what I’m hoping for.
On one hand, it will make me happy to see their fan base and team go through a dreadful rebuild, but on the other hand, it’s sort of nice having a team around that you can write angry articles about. If the Ducks do decide to tear things down then we might not get the enjoyment of seeing Milan Lucic or now, Jujhar Khaira beat the crap out of them anymore. Then again, maybe I’m just salty.
What do you guys think?
To hear those two clowns complain about the officiating is hilarious. That series was won except the Bettman/Officiating tandem stole it from us.
You hit the nail on the head, Bettman took that series away from us because he wants to grow the game down south. With the Oilers being out of the playoffs I get my satisfaction out of the ducks just getting embarrassed, I’m loving it.
It has been a lot of fun watching the Ducks get demolished in the playoffs. Hope the Oilers get good enough to do it someday as well.
But weren’t you cheering when they spanked the Flames in 4 straight?
Provincial rivals occupy a unique tier of hatred. Remember your ABCs – anyone but Calgary.
opening the app to look for highlights on the games I didn’t watch, I have to admit I gleefully clicked on this game first. damn dirty ducks
The Ducks Suck .
The only way the Ducks win is when the refs puts their whistles away When the calls don’t go their way the head coach and players ( namely Getlaf & Perry ) behave like juvenile delinquents .
Problem is they only put it away for 1 team if they are playing a Franchise north of the border.
Always nice to see the Ducks get beat. Almost rather watch the Oilers get demolished in the playoffs though. That would mean they are actually good enough to make it and hockey in March and Feb would be enjoyable again.
Ha ha ha The ducks suck and i love watching every second of it. Especially Perry and Kesler and baby-a$$ Getzlaf isn’t getting away with his usual crap. And to top it all of that garden gnome coach is still trying to figure out how to use a toaster. See ya Ducks! Clowns
This makes me happy, oh so happy. #F*&Ktheducks
My thoughts exactly.
Hate the Ducks. Getzlaf and Perry have always been borderline on their crap but as they slow down they are getting worse by the day. For two people who have pretty much won everything, especially Perry, this is a major fall from grace. Go out better than that.
Getzlaf is actually the worse of the two right now. Perry usually falls on goalies and does things like face washing. Getzlaf is all crosscheck and spear everynight now.
Tough guy Getzlaf turns into the biggest whiner as soon as things don’t go his way. Perry and Kesler are the two dirtiest players in the league. There no place in the game for the crap these guys get away with. Nice see the Ducks get what they deserve.
As Craptacular as this season has been seeing the Sucks implode makes me smile.
Although it just further illustrates how robbed we were last year. These clowns haven’t changed their playing style. What’s changed is that the refs are actually calling some of their BS this year. Like someone commented above – Anaheim can’t win unless the refs sit on their whistles.
Just a coincidence that they’re playing against an American team this year and not a Canadian one I guess…
Ah. The head office plan! Probably has the officials confused.
The only reason those 2 clowns, Perry and Getzlaf were ever able to win a cup was because WE traded them Pronger ! And yes it’s been nice to see the Ducks get byach slapped by the Sharks!
Watching Kesler’s descent into Worst Contract in the League has been the tastiest part of this bit of roadkill.
Kings fan here, so I share in the joy of watching the duckies get annihilated as my team is about to get sent home as well. What I worry about is Carlyle getting fired. I want them to keep that fat, bloated hack so that we can keep seeing this for years to come.
What? Carlyle was an Awsome Defenceman, Mean,Tough and as was skilled. The Oiler’s should as much have hoped to have a Brophie/Sutter/Carlyle coach. The Oiler’s lack what the Duck’s are losing.
He may have been mean and tough as a player, but every team he has coached has been undisciplined and he’s been $hit-canned from every NHL job he’s ever had. Look at his overall record. He won one cup because he had the leadership of Niedermeyer and Pronger. Just like Mike Keenan won a cup when Messier carried the Rangers on his back. The duckies are a reflection of that wanker.
After the NHL screwed the Oilers over last year, a gift of Josh Manson would be just fine. Heck. They can have a “mint” Lucic in return, he thrives in imbecile leadership situations associated with stupid penalties.
In fact, its his jam.
Sure the Oil sucked this year but so did the Lames and now the Ducks are crashing out..misery loves company.
Weren’t the Oilers built in the image of the Ducks and Kings, big/ tough Pacific teams that are both 0-6 in the playoffs and getting rolled by young and fast. Great…
Still love seeing the Ducks get demolished
Last night in the third period:
Getzlaf: I thought we were friends.
Refs: 10 minute misconduct!
Hahahaha!
Remember when we curb-stomped the Ducks in the West Final? Remeber how sad that squad was? Well I do, and they were nothing without he-who-shall-not-be-named. As a side, anyone think we should try to get Cogliano back? I got his autograph at West Ed once, along with Deslauriers and Roloson.
Also the 7-1 thrashing we gave them in Game 6 really exposed a lot of holes in that lineup. It’s incredible how we utterly dominated them in that game (and by “we” I mean Leon of course)!
Alexitof, The Ducks owned the Oilers.
Was that Goaltender Interference?
Love the Ducks.
Watching the Sucks get destroyed as they took penalty after stupid penalty and whined to the refs about it was fun, but a part of me kept thinking: “only one year to late”.
You picked DUCKS for your fantasy team????? Please turn in your true blue (& orange) fan card.
Haha. I had the ducks losing to the Predators in the conference finals.
I hate them so much!!!
This is a malicious article. Well done.
I was hoping someone was going to write an article like this. That 8-1 final made me laugh .
The Ducks are the new Canucks F them.
It looks like Big, Heavy hockey is dead for now anyways.
Fans: “There’s no way the Oilers blow this 3-0 lead”
Cam Talbot: “Hold my pads”
