Oilers Prospect Update: Condors stumbling into the playoffs

The Condors are struggling at the worst time possible. Three games left in the season, and they are losers in their last four. With Gambardella and Malone heading back after Currie was sent down earlier this week things should round out before the playoffs.

Monday Mailbag - Should Puljujarvi be welcomed back?

He’s back skating now – he’s possible for the second round but, with Niagara up 2-0 now, I presume they will keep him out until the beginning of the 3rd round. Will be great to get him back and it so some playoff games.

  • Bigwreck

Also has anyone heard what John Marino’s plans are? Just wondering if the oilers intend to sign him or if he is going in another direction. Have heard positive things on this player, but more of s shutdown type with descent boots.

    • OriginalPouzar

Marino has the leverage now. He can go back for his senior year and the Oilers would have until next Aug to sign him, however, given his 3 years of college, he does have the option of turning pro this spring and becoming a free agent.

I have a feeling he isn’t going to sign with the org and they’ll need to trade him for a middling return – not an unusual circumstance with the the middle round college picks.

I’m more interested in the Hayden Hawkey signing at this point – he’s done with college and I think they’ll get pen to paper soon.

  • OriginalPouzar

With Spooner traded, Yamamoto back hurt and the three up in the NHL (Malone, Currie, Joe G.) the forward depth was really tested recently. It will be great for the Condors to get the three veterans back – they will help a ton.

Guelph down 2-0 to London – they may get themselves a Samorukov in a week – not sure if or how they’ll try and work him in to the lineup.

I’ve watched about 80% of the Condors games this year.

The streams work amazingly well (some buildings have better camera work than others) and Ryan Holt does a fabulous job on the play by play.
