Edmonton Oilers recall Gaetan Haas

The Edmonton Oilers recalled C Gaetan Haas from the Bakersfield Condors Saturday afternoon, the team announced.

Haas was assigned to the American Hockey League last Saturday.

The move comes a day after the Oilers announced F Josh Archibald was placed on the injured reserve with a fractured foot. Archibald is expected to miss two to four weeks.

Haas, meanwhile, played in two games for the Condors during his brief assignment notching one assist.

The early transition to hockey in North America has been a bit of a struggle for the European Haas. With the Oilers he’s got one assist — a nice one admittedly — in five games played.

And at times he’s often looked out of place in his limited time-on-ice (7:52/gm). He’s only had three shot attempts, one on net, and has largely been caved in possession-wise. His goal rates are an even 2-2.

It will be interesting to see if coach Dave Tippett gets Haas in the lineup at all, or if he’ll be an extra body in the press box.

He was signed this past offseason to a one-year, $1.562m AAV contract.
