The NHL playoffs wrapped up Tuesday night with the Colorado Avalanche lifting the Stanley Cup.

A well-deserved title win for the front-to-back best team in the league. But no matter how much offence they produced, nobody could knock Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl from atop the playoff scoring ranks.

McDavid’s 10 goals and 33 points stand first, while Draisaitl’s seven goals and 32 points came in second. It was only fitting for the same duo who were top five in league scoring in the regular season to sit in the same spot come the playoffs.

Connor’s total also marked the first time since 2002 that a player led the playoffs in scoring, but didn’t play in the cup finals.

That year it was Colorado Avalanche forward Peter Forsberg, who in 20 games scored nine goals and 27 points. He lapped the field in production with Detroit Red Wings forward Steve Yzerman coming in second with 23 points in as many games.

No matter how interesting the stat may be, McDavid and Draisaitl are driven for one thing and one thing only: a Stanley Cup ring. The Oilers’ window has truly opened here with this past season being the closest the team has gotten since 2005-06.
