We’re headed to Edmonton with the Western Conference Final knotted at one game each.
After the Dallas Stars pulled off a comeback victory in Game 1, the Oilers shut the door in Game 2, winning by a score of 3-0. Fans took to social media to express frustration about the Stars, who are now in the exact same spot after two games against the Oilers that they were last year.
“Gotta wake up before the third period. Feel like Wyatt is due but gotta figure out a way to get Robertson going. Not going to win with them being no shows in the scoring column.” – @OUDTX00 via X“Where is the team chemistry? Where is the fight? Horrible game for Dallas.” – @TXScorpion14 via X“That the Stars did NOTHING about the Nurse cheap shot speaks volumes about the team! The Dallas Eunuchs.” – @ArizonaBobcat via X“To all of those panicking, stop. It’s a series. There are many ups and downs. You look to split in Edmonton and make this a 3 game series. Star players need to show up for Dallas and step up. This series was never going to be a short one. Let’s get a W Sunday.” – @hunter_exum via X
“Wyatt Johnston misses the net literally all the f***g time. This team f***g sucks lol. Another conference finals loss? Is that all this team does?” – @tconn2 via X“It’s mind-boggling how a team with so much talent has been so unprepared to play in multiple games this playoffs.” – Benjamin via Facebook“Next time Wyatt and Robo use their PTO, can you let us know so we don’t have to spend money watching them figure skate!” – Christianlamarque via Instagram“I’ll try to stay positive. Edmonton is a good team and wasn’t going to lie down after their embarrassing 3rd period in game one. The Stars have a lot of guys who need to get the monkey off their backs. If they do, we will win this series. If they don’t? Another disappointing end.” – @KitchenKC via X“How fun would it be if the Stars showed up to play hockey. If you play like tonight again, it will be a repeat of last year. You look silly.” – @OnTimeFreedom via X
Stuart Skinner was the star of the game for Edmonton, turning aside all of the 25 shots that Dallas threw his way. Skinner now has shutouts in three of his last four starts for the Oilers, a nice rebound following a difficult start to the playoffs.
“Stuart Skinner has got to be the most inconsistent goaltender I’ve ever seen. One game he’s terrible, the next he’s 2011 Tim Thomas lol.” – Adam_Bradford14 via X“As someone with a Psychology degree, I am absolutely fascinated by Stuart Skinner. Either five-plus goals allowed or a shutout. If I ever get my PhD, I’m writing my thesis on him.” – Aimok via X“Friendly reminder that Stuart Skinner has shut out opponents in three out of the last four games.” Ryan_vallon via X“Stu Skinner either has a shutout or below a .840 in every playoff game he played this season. These numbers gotta be in a documentary.” – NHL_Bouchard via X“Skinner’s so consistent at being inconsistent.” – Tyler Mangiago via Instagram“Skinner, crazy to watch but he got the job done!” – Julie via Facebook“The real Stuart Skinner showed up tonight. Thank you.” – @damnitjason.bsky.social via Blue Sky“The Stuart Skinner Experience: Some nights, he gives elite performances that only Sergei Bobrovsky can match. Other nights, he’s generous to tell us that time that it’s five past him.” – @tommy44vercetti.bsky.social via Blue Sky“MASSIVE win by the Oilers. Another shutout for Stuart Skinner. All three of his playoff victories have been shutouts. All his playoffs losses he’s been .834sv% or worse. 1-1 series. Games 3 and 4 in Edmonton. KK gets his matchups. Oilers get the home crowd.” – Raja Dhami via X“Stuart Skinner’s extremely odd playoff continues. It’s either a shutout or losing with a save percentage under .850.” – Morgan Laidler via X
The Oilers will host the Stars on Sunday afternoon for Game 3 and then on Tuesday evening for Game 4. Taking both games in Edmonton would put a stranglehold on this Western Conference Final rematch.
