According to reports circling on Twitter this morning, @Edmonton Oilers defenceman, Adam Larsson, will a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety in regards to the elbow thrown on T.J. Tynan in last night’s 4-1 loss to the @Colorado Avalanche.
In last night’s game against, @Adam Larsson was assessed a five-minute major for elbowing and a game misconduct for an elbow against Colorado forward, T.J. Tynan. Larsson caught Tynan with an elbow in the moments following @Ryan Graves’ obliterating hit on @Alex Chiasson. As a result, Larsson was given 15 PIMs and forced out of the game, forcing his teammates to kill off the major penalty and leaving fellow defencemen short a man.
While we don’t know any further details about the hearing, the elbow that I personally don’t think should have been anything more than a two-minute minor could result in Larsson missing a game or so, but perhaps the league will consider the in-game punishment sufficient and slap him with a fine instead. Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see what happens with this hearing as I think I can safely say that a lot of us were confused about why the run-in merited a major penalty in the first place.

***UPDATE***

The Score pulled their link down which I used as a source on the story, so maybe there will be no hearing after all? I mean, I thought that having a hearing for strangeness would have been crazy and maybe they jumped the gun on the info? Either way, Reid Wilkins just spoke to Larsson who confirmed that he has not had a hearing with the NHL.
