According to Bob Stauffer, Adam Larsson will be joining Team Sweden at the World Hockey Championships in Denmark later on in the spring.

According to the Oilers Now host, Larsson met with Sweden’s head coach, Rikard Gronborg, while the team was in Ottawa to discuss his involvement in the tournament. Larsson will be joining his teammates Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who were both reported to be interested earlier this week. The Oilers trio will not square off as opponents until the playoff rounds, as Canada and Sweden are playing in separate groups.

For Larsson, extending his season could come as a welcomed distraction as he has had a very difficult time with both the passing of his father and a lack of team success on the ice. With the Oilers season winding down, Larsson could have chosen to take some well deserved and understandably needed time off, but he will, instead, represent his country for the second time at the World Hockey Championships.

The tournament will run from May 4-20th, 2018, in Copenhagen and Herning, Denmark. You can view the schedule here.
