Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
Kicking off this week’s appearance, we jumped in with a look at last night’s win against the San Jose Sharks and while it wasn’t the prettiest win we’ll ever see from this group that doesn’t make it any less beautiful to me. That said, there were plenty of moments throughout the night where it looked like the Oilers may let things slip away, but a shorthanded goal from Nuge and an OT winner from McDavid extended the win streak and gave the team two huge points. It’s important to say that this win doesn’t happen without Mike Smith, though. From start to finish, Smith was great for the Oilers in net but the play that everyone is rightfully talking about this morning is the stretch pass to McDavid in OT that set up the game-winner. It’s been a whole since I’ve seen anything like that and Smith executed the play perfectly. We also touched on the game Jesse Puljujarvi had for the Oilers as the big Finn was able to get into position for all kinds of chances, but just couldn’t close anything out. Is he lacking confidence a little bit right now? Either way, I believe in him. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s appearance with a look at Auston Matthews’ heater in Toronto and how some Leafs fans believe that he is the best player in the universe despite an argument to be made that he’s not even the best player on his own team.
