Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started with a look at the Oilers’ six-game winning streak, and how they finally are starting to look like the team we all hoped they would. What’s also amazing about this mini-heater is that the boys aren’t just winning games, but they’re doing it against some really good teams as well as some bad ones. That’s a mix that definitely wouldn’t have happened in December, ya know? As a result of these, the boys are back in the mix for the Pacific Division lead and with that target in sight, it’s easy to wonder what Ken Holland might do at or before the trade deadline to help bolster the group. Are we in line for a Gavrikov trade? What about Jonathan Toews? The tricky part about having the Oilers tied to so many names is that we know most of them won’t actually happen, so it’s hard to get too excited about any specific player. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s segment with a quick chat about Evander Kane as he will not be in the lineup against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Yesterday, Jason Gregor reported that he was taking care of some personal business down in San Jose and that he wouldn’t be back in time for the dance with Columbus. Will he be back for Saturday? We certainly hope so as there’s undoubtedly a big difference with the Oilers when he’s in the lineup.
