Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we got started by recapping the Ryan McLeod contract extension that came down last night for two years at a $2.1 million AAV. For most of us, this new deal for McLeod seems pretty fair for both sides given how Clouder gave the Oilers a team friendly deal at $798K a year ago. That said, there were still some Oilers fans who still think this contract was too much for what he provides. As always, we’ll have to wait and see how this thing ages. The next item on the Oilers’ summer to-do list will be to get Evan Bouchard signed to a new contract, but with only $4.28 million in cap space remaining, it will be interesting to see how this one plays out. If Ken Holland can get Bouchard done at $3.5 million or less then the team will be able to ice a 22-man roster, but if not, it looks like it’ll be a 21-man group to kick off the year. Lastly, we wrapped up this week’s appearance with a look at the Zach Hyman Celebrity Classic and specifically how it was nice to see some of the players — McDavid and Draisaitl — having a little bit more fun than the last time we saw them on camera. Not only is that golf tourney great for the money it raises for charity, but also for the social content it gives us at the midway point of the summer.
