Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while offering my takes on anything else that’s happening in the world.
Kicking off this week’s segment, we started with a look at the Oilers’ win streak after they were able to extend it to 12 games last night with a 4-2 comeback win over the Seattle Kraken. Early on in that game, the boys were pretty sloppy, and they were making the kinds of mistakes that we haven’t seen since earlier in the year. The good news, however, is that the Oilers found their legs over the final 40 minutes and closed out a win that looked anything but certain early on.
A lot of the credit for the way the Oilers have been playing has to go to Kris Knoblauch. Since replacing Jay Woodcroft back in November, Coach Knobby has the boys playing a much tighter brand of hockey, and it’s been a lot of fun watching them give the opponents fits when they’re really dialled into their game. Another significant part of the Oilers’ success has to go to Stuart Skinner’s stellar play in net, which has been wonderful given how many doubters he had earlier in the year.
Next up, we wrapped up this week’s hit with a preview of tomorrow night’s Battle of Alberta. Both the Oilers and Flames are playing some pretty good hockey right now, and that sets the table for a fun rematch down at the Saddledome, as these teams will meet up for the first time since the Heritage Classic. Finally, we wrapped up the segment with another plea from myself for you to join us on next month’s Nation Vacation down to Arizona for what is sure to be a fantastic trip to Mullett Arena.
