Happy Wednesday, Internet friends, and welcome to yet another chapter of your ol’ pal Baggedmilk’s adventures in radio. As I do every week, I jumped on the air with the boys on The Locker Room for a quick segment to talk about the Oilers while also offering my takes on anything else that’s going on in the world.
To kick off this week’s segment, we jumped in with a look at how well the Edmonton Oilers are playing lately, and how a big reason this ship has turned around is because of Jay Woodcroft. After the coaching change, Woodcroft has his boys playing a much more detailed and exciting brand of hockey, and it’s been working for them to the point that they’ve avoided the disaster that would have been missing the playoffs. So how is he doing it? I have no idea, but I will give the guy all of the credit in the world for making things happen. From there, we looked at Auston Matthews hitting 60 goals last night in Toronto and how that makes some Leafs fans feel like the Hart Trophy is already wrapped up even though there are a handful of players that have more points than him. Are goals the only thing that matters? Lastly, with the Oilers locking up home-ice advantage last night in Pittsburgh, we wondered how much (if at all) McDavid and Draisaitl will play over these last two games. Will Woodcroft healthy scratch the dynamic duo to give them a break? Will they dress and just not play that much?
