#CAMP is here and I have Oilers updates

In my mind, there are three important dates during the summer: the NHL Draft, Free Agent Frenzy, and #CAMP week.
It’s probably a pretty uncommon opinion to put #CAMP week on a pedestal beside the draft and free agency, but I don’t care. It’s a great week where we get a behind the scenes look at a lot of NHL players training for the upcoming season. Alright fine, when I say NHL players, I’m really just looking forward to seeing Connor McDavid do Connor McDavid training things.
If you’ve never heard of #CAMP week, it’s a week-long training camp put on by Biosteel Sports where players around the NHL train and compete all week long. They create four teams at the beginning of the week and play for the coveted Biosteel trophy by the end of it. Biosteel creates amazing content throughout the week and always posts some very cool videos. With Darnell Nurse and Connor McDavid often attending the camp, it’s easy to get excited about.
In all seriousness, the whole thing is a giant brand awareness campaign for Biosteel and all their supplement products, but I totally buy into it every year. The content they produce is totally worth it to have their brand shoved in my face all week long. Here’s one of their videos from last year if this is all new to you.
Anyways, the real reason I’m writing this article is to report on the Oilers that are participating in #CAMP all week long. Those Oilers are Connor McDavid and Darnell Nurse of course! (Scottie Upshall, recently signed to a PTO by the Oilers is also attending).
Day one of #CAMP kicked off today with the four team captains (Tyler Seguin, Darnell Nurse, Michael Del Zotto, Tom Wilson) picking their teams for the week. Take a look below at the final picks. I couldn’t help to notice Darnell chose Connor first overall and later chose Upshall too. Team Nurse is obviously on my ballot to win the trophy.
