He’s done it.
In just his 53rd game of the season, Connor McDavid has reached the 100-point plateau.
McDavid entered Saturday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks with 96 points, needing four more to reach the century mark. He put up No. 97 on a goal in the first period, No. 98 came in the second period on an assist on a wicked snipe by Jesse Puljujarvi, and then No. 99 came on one of those one-timer rockets from Leon Draisaitl on the power-play that we’ve become so accustomed to seeing.
Finally, there was No. 100, which, poetically, came from the Dynamic Duo, another one-time snipe on the power-play, McDavid to Draisaitl…
This is an absolutely insane accomplishment. A few years ago, McDavid scored his 100th point in his 82nd game of the season against the Canucks and we were all blown away. Now? McDavid has put together just shy of a two-point-per-game season, far and away the best production the league has seen from a player since the turn of the millennium.
There really aren’t any words to describe how wild this is. What a season. What a player.
