The Oilers are 6-3-1 and Connor McDavid has broken another cool record. Happy Monday!
As you can read, with his single point in yesterdays game in Chicago, Connor McDavid has become the first Oilers player since Mark Messier to record 17 or more points in the first 10 games of the season. Only three other Oilers have produced this much and they were Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, and Glenn Anderson. This is yet another big milestone Connor McDavid has reached which affiliates him with some of the best players to ever play the game.
I’m curious to know who the person is that keeps track of this stuff. If Connor gets another point next game will be become the first Oiler to score 18 or more points in the first 11 games played of the season? It never ends! Connor currently has eight goals and nine assists in these 10 games which puts him in fifth place in the NHL’s leading scorers. Obviously, it’s super early to even be looking at the point scoring race, but I don’t care, these are very exciting times. With two games in hand of the leader, Mikko Rantanen, I expect him to take the lead soon.
With these stats through the first ten games, Connor is currently on a pace of scoring 65 goals and 73 assists for 138 points. Sure, keeping up these numbers don’t really seem feasible (more specifically the goals scored), however as we’ve all learned, you can’t count Connor McDavid out of anything.
