Connor McDavid named Pacific Division captain at the NHL All-Star Game

As expected, Edmonton Oilers captain and noted ice god, Connor McDavid, will represent the Pacific Division as captain in the upcoming NHL All-Star Game in late January. It will be the third straight time for McDavid at the All-Star Game after missing out in his rookie season due to injury.

Throughout the month of December, NHL fans were voting on which players would represent their divisions as captains at next month’s All-Star game and today the results were announced. For the third time, Connor McDavid will represent the Pacific Division as captain at the annual NHL All-Star Game. He will be joined by Auston Matthews (Atlantic), Nathan MacKinnon (Central), and Alex Ovechkin (Metropolitan) as the other three division captains selected. According to the NHL release, the rest of the rosters will get filled out by the NHL’s Hockey Operations Department and the coach’s will be selected based on points.

San Jose will host the 2019 NHL All-Star weekend on January 25‑26, with the skills competition happening on Friday night (7 pm MST) and the game itself on Saturday (6 pm MST). This will be the second time San Jose has hosted the event with the first one coming back in 1997 when Mark Recchi took the MVP honours.
