Connor McDavid is a filthy man and put on an absolute show last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
You could see from puck drop that McDavid was there to play.
He was driving play early and had a great extra jump in his step. You could have a feeling from the get-go something special was going to happen.
And the Oilers superstar did not disappoint.
While his ability to look off Morgan Rielly faking the two-on-one was impressive in and of itself, his ability to change direction, drop his hips and blow through the Leafs defender is what took the goal to another level.
McDavid’s goal, his 69th point of the season, was a beauty and helped the Oilers secure the 6-4 W. He popped off with a four-point night in total adding three assists including an incredible cross-ice feed to a trailing Darnell Nurse for the 2-0 goal early in the second.
Connor’s goal surely will be talked about for years to come and immediately becomes one of the best, if not the best goals of the season.
And after the game, McDavid quipped about while it’s great to play in Toronto, it’s also great to leave the city. It should surely get a few people talking in the hockey world to say the least.
