The @Edmonton Oilers have made their second big trade of the day acquiring F @Tyler Ennis from the @Ottawa Senators.
Edmonton has reportedly given up a 2021 5th round draft pick for the depth forward that has appeared in 61 games for the Senators this year.
Ennis, 30, has scored 14 goals and 19 assists this year. He’s had a tremendous impact during his time on ice with great underlying numbers posting a 56.07 CF% and an xGF% of 59.42. He’s kept his head well above water on a bad Senators club.
He’s bounced around the NHL in the last few seasons after spending the majority of his career with the Buffalo Sabres. Ennis was drafted by the club in the 1st round of the 2008 NHL draft and has scored 309 points in 604 NHL games.
Ennis spent the 2017-18 season with the Minnestoa Wild, before spending the 2018-19 year with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This year was his first with Ottawa.
He’s going to be a very good third-line option for the Oilers as they load up for a stretch run for the playoffs.
Edmonton has made two big moves in the last 12 or so hours, acquiring @Mike Green from the Detroit Red Wings for @Kyle Brodziak and a conditional fourth-round pick. Just this morning, Edmonton made another deal with Detroit acquiring @Andreas Athanasiou and Ryan Kuffner in exchange for @Sam Gagner and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021.
Ennis has a cap hit of $800,000 on the season, but only carries a $176,000 cap hit through the remainder of the year. He is a UFA at the end of the season.
