It’s positive Friday at the Nation today after news came out that Norm Lacombe’s Stanley Cup ring has been returned to him after being stolen over the weekend. According to CTV News, Lacombe received an anonymous call led to the return of his ring and wallet after pictures surfaced of the alleged thief wearing the ring started circling on social media.
As you probably know, I wrote about Lacombe’s prized ring being stolen from his car over the weekend and now I’m happy to do a quick follow up to let everyone know that he got it back. According to Lacombe, he received an anonymous phone call on Thursday night with details on his stolen property and ended up making an exchange for its return at Dairy Queen in Stony Plain. Lacombe said the person who returned the ring to him was not the guy in the security video stills, but someone who recognized and knew him.
At the time of posting, RCMP say that no arrests have been made quite yet, but with pictures of the alleged thief floating around the Internet it seems like only a matter of time before he gets ratted out and brought to justice. RCMP released the image above that shows the suspect actually wearing Lacombe’s ring after he was spotted by surveillance footage taken in a Devon store on Sunday afternoon. Needless to say, the plan worked as hoped as someone recognized dumb-Danny Ocean almost immediately and Norm got his ring back less than a week after it was taken.
The good news here is obviously that Norm got his ring back. The bad news is that there are morons walking among us that not only think it’s okay to steal people’s personal belongings but that are also stupid enough to wear said stolen goods while they’re walking around. I mean, Stanley Cup rings are pretty unique and overall ballin’ so it seems like a moronic thing to do to wear something that no one else really owns and expecting that people wouldn’t notice.
It’s not like he stole and wore an Oilers hat here, we’re talking about a Stanley Cup ring. Idiot!
To Mr. Norm Lacome, I’m very happy to hear that you got your ring back. This is the way this story should have ended.
To Mr. Thief Guy, you could use a little chlorine in your gene pool or, at the very least, a spot on Devon’s dumbest criminals.
Thank you.
