The roster cuts keep coming.
After losing last night to the Winnipeg Jets, the Oilers announced a slew of assignments highlighted with 2021 1st round pick Xavier Bourgault being assigned the QMJHL’s Shawinigan Cataractes. He showed well scoring a goal and an assist in two pre-season games, and now will head back to the juniors and start his push to made the World Juniors roster.
The Oilers also assigned eight players to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors: Devin Brosseau, Matteo Gennaro, Yanni Kaldis, Dino Kambeitz, Raphael Lavoie, Kirill Maksimov, Ostap Safin and Tim Soderlund.
After last night’s game, head coach Dave Tippett said the team would start to enter “get sharp mode” around Saturday night’s game, and a trim of the roster will help the club do so.
Following these assignments, the Oilers roster now sits at 43 players including six goaltenders, 15 defencemen and 22 forwards.
