With the Edmonton Oilers being eliminated from playoff contention, six players will be heading to Denmark to participate in the World Hockey Championship that run from May 4-20th.

Forwards

Both Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will represent Canada in the tournament, and while Cam Talbot was invited, he was forced to withdraw based on some minor injuries he was dealing with at the end of the season. As expected, Leon Draisaitl will represent Germany as he continues to be the country’s biggest star at the NHL level and a beacon for growing the game in his home country.

Defencemen

Adam Larsson had already committed to playing for Sweden in the tournament as he looks to extend his season after suffering horribly on a personal level with the passing of his father. If healthy enough to play, Andrej Sekera will represent Slovakia as he will look to get some more playing time after missing much of the season while recovering from ACL surgery. Lastly, Yohann Auvitu will represent France as he will try to further showcase himself in order to earn another NHL contract for the fall.
The World Hockey Championship will run from May 4-20th, 2018, in Copenhagen and Herning, Denmark, at the Royal Arena and Jyske Bank Boxen respectively. You can view the full schedule here.
