February RECAP: Highlights

Another month has gone by and the Oilers haven’t moved any closer to a playoff spot. Although, there were lots of changes made off the ice such as trades, injuries, and milestones. Here are the main ones:

February 15th, Cam Talbot was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for 25-year-old, Anthony Stolarz.

February 17th, After spending five games down in Bakersfield with the Condors for a conditioning stint after a lengthy injury, Andrej Sekera was called back up to play for the Edmonton Oilers.

February 18th, the team placed defenceman, Brandon Manning, on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Bakersfield Condors, and was successful.

February 20th, a trade was made, the Edmonton Oilers acquired Sam Gagner from the Vancouver Canucks for Ryan Spooner, one for one.

February 22nd, Connor McDavid was suspended for two games for a hit to the head on Nick Leddy.

February 23rd, Josh Currie scored his first NHL goal against Anaheim Ducks and on February 28th Colby Cave scored his first as an Oiler against the Ottawa Senators.

Towards the end of the month, Jesse Puljujärvi was put on IR out of nowhere but then later was released that he required hip surgery and will be out for the remainder of the season. Oilers didn’t have a great month but Draisaitl sure did, he accumulated 12 goals and 5 assists and looks like he’ll be carrying that heat into March.

Four wins out of fourteen games which turns out to be a 28% win percentage in the month of February… Obviously, that’s not good at all for a team trying to clinch a wild-card spot. Let’s hope the month of March is better… Here are all of the goals in the month of February!
