This past month wasn’t the best for the Edmonton Oilers. The fans came into the new year thinking that the Oilers would turn a new leaf and start winning more often. Although that wasn’t the case, they went from a wild card spot to 7th last place in the league. Here’s a rundown on all of the games the Edmonton Oilers played in the month of January:
Arizona Coyotes: 3-1 EDM
LA Kings: 4-0 LA
Anaheim Ducks: 4-0 EDM
San Jose: 7-2 SJS
Flordia Panthers: 4-3 (SO) EDM
Arizona Coyotes: 3-1 ARI
Buffalo Sabers: 7-2 EDM
Vancouver Canucks: 3-2 (SO) EDM
Calgary Flames: 5-2 CGY
Carolina Hurricanes: 7-4 CAR
Detriot Red Wings: 3-2 DET
LA Kings: 4-0 LA
Anaheim Ducks: 4-0 EDM
San Jose: 7-2 SJS
Flordia Panthers: 4-3 (SO) EDM
Arizona Coyotes: 3-1 ARI
Buffalo Sabers: 7-2 EDM
Vancouver Canucks: 3-2 (SO) EDM
Calgary Flames: 5-2 CGY
Carolina Hurricanes: 7-4 CAR
Detriot Red Wings: 3-2 DET
Yes, the Oilers only won 5 out of 11 games and two of them were shootout wins but that doesn’t mean there weren’t bright sides. Because of all of those losses and improvement was nowhere to be found, it was time to fire Peter Chiarelli, which is the highlight we all needed to get through another dark month.
After that came the annual All-Star Competition, where McDavid and Draisaitl won both of their events. McDavid won the fastest skater event at 13.378 seconds and Draisaitl won the premier passing event at 109 seconds.
Let’s take look at all of the goals from January:
