Edmonton Oilers forward Kyle Turris has been nominated by the team for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.
The award is presented by the NHL to the “player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”
Across the league, nominees were selected by their respective teams and a winner will be selected by a committee of senior NHL executives as well as Commissioner Gary Bettman and Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly.
This year, Turris spent time working with the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital connecting with patients by video chat.
This is the criteria the committee will be basing the final selection on:
  • Clear and measurable positive impact on the community
  • Investment of time and resources
  • Commitment to a particular cause or community
  • Commitment to the League’s community initiatives
  • Creativity of programming
  • Use of influence; engagement of others
