Edmonton Oilers prospect Jeremias Lindewall will be spending the next few years in Sweden.
The 2020 7th round draft pick started his season this year with MODO in the J20 Nationell Swedish league where he blew up with five goals and nine points in eight games.
It earned him a call up to the MODO’s HockeyAllsvenskan league where he’s played 12 games scoring two goals and an assist. His play there has earned him a two-year extension beyond this campaign, the Oilers announced Monday.
It’s good news for the 18-year-old who appears to have taken a nice jump in his game post-draft. Last year, he played all but two games for MODO’s J20 SuperElit team where he scored 11 goals and 28 points in 39 games.
Now, Lindewall has earned himself a solid deal to continue playing in the Swedish pro ranks.
“His development has given him the chance in the Hockey Allsvenskan this season where he really took it,” MODO Hockey’s sports director Fredrik Glader said in a statement. “He has shown progress every day and it will be exciting to follow his development going forward.”
Seventh-round draft picks are nothing short of a dart throw, but just like every other prospect, we’ll be keeping a close eye on him.
Here’s what the EliteProspects 2020 draft guide had to say of him:
He showed off good puck control and could cover it effectively with his body. For a player of his size, Lindewall showed off good first steps and could accelerate well with the puck without having to slow down. What Lindewall does best is his work in front of the opposing net. He can take and deliver blows and has some grit to his style.

LAST DAY FOR THE 2020 BLACKOUT COLLECTION!

For this year’s Blackout Collection, we’re introducing some new designs while also bringing back some old favourites as well. As for the new items, we launched a new hoodie, t-shirt, and toque that we’ve never done before and as you’ll soon see, these babies are sharp. In addition to the new designs, we’ve also relaunched the black-on-black logo hoodie as well as the classic Nation Hat (both flat brim and dad style) with the same esthetic from a few years ago. These two items were huge sellers back in 2016 and after hearing your feedback about wanting us to bring them back, that’s exactly what we did. But be warned, these items are all limited edition and once they’re gone they’re gone, so I’d recommend squashing your internal desire to procrastinate to make sure you get all of your Christmas shopping done before everything sells out. Check out all of the Black Friday deals here.
