The Oilers’ top prospect had a quiet week, however, a couple of European talents shined instead.
The Condors had a good end to January with three straight wins over the Tucson Roadrunners. They now have a 16-9-7 record and sit 4th in the division.
In one of those wins, a certain somebody scored their first goal. Let’s dive in a see how that player was, shall we?

Holloway’s first goal

It hasn’t taken Dylan Holloway long to settle in the pro hockey lifestyle, at least on the ice. Since returning from injuring and getting out of COVID protocol, Holloway has made an instant impact on the Bakersfield Condors. In five games, the Oilers’ former first round has five points including one goal which came against the Tucson Roadrunners. We all have high expectations for Holloway which comes with the territory of being a first round pick. Right now, he’s living up to that standard. This weekend is going to be a tough test for him and the Condors as they face division rivals the Colorado Eagles in back-to-back games.

The Maxim Duo

Two players that haven’t been mentioned much in these reports are Maxim Beryozkin and Maxim Denezhkin. Beryozkin was the 138th overall pick from the 2020 draft and is now with the Loko Yaroslavl (MHL) in Russia. He’s having a stellar season with 7 goals and 23 points in 13 games. He has spent a lot of time in the KHL too with the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, but his production hasn’t been as good with only two points in 30 games. Denezhkin on the other hand is yet to play in the KHL and instead has been dominating the VHL with Lada Togliatti. The Oilers’ 7th round pick from 2019 is 4th on the team in scoring with 15 goals and 35 points. Over the past week, he scored a goal and two assists. It likely won’t be long before we see the two of them in North America with the Bakersfield Condors. Perhaps even as early as next season.
