This afternoon, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they have recalled Joseph Gambardella from the Bakersfield Condors.
How much do I love the Oilers? Well, I’m taking a break from my Vegas vacation with the Nation to tell all of you that our favourite hockey squadron has recalled Joseph Gambardella from the Condors for the second time this season. In 48 games played with the Condors, he amassed 27 goals and 18 assists for 45 points.  In his first recall, Gambardella got into four games with the Oilers and averaged 5:49 TOI with no shots on goal, one blocked shot, and one hit. The native of Staten Island, New York, joined the Oilers as an undrafted free agent in March of 2017 after spending three years at UMass-Lowell.
What’s unclear is why the Oilers chose to recall Gambardella now. The team didn’t make any other roster announcements, nor have they added anyone to the injured reserve so I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens next. All I know for sure is that the Bakersfield Condors are prepping for their playoff run and you’d have to think more news is coming if the Oilers chose to make this recall now. What I’ll be curious to see is whether or not Gambardella is used more than he was in his first stint with the Oilers, but I wouldn’t necessary expect it, ya know?
As an aside, the Oilersnation Twitter account got locked for some reason so if you’re looking for our tweets you won’t find them until we get out of jail. Until we get unlocked you can follow us on our backup account.
