This morning, it was announced that the Edmonton Oilers have signed @Josh Archibald to a two-year contract extension.
The deal will see the shift forward make an AAV of $1.5-million. Archibald signed a one-year, $1-million deal with Edmonton this past offseason.
Archibald has been a solid bottom-six addition for the Oilers this year scoring 12 goals and eight assists in 59 games. He’s tied a career-high in goals so far this season, and is only two points back from a career-high in points.
Showing an ability to slide up and down the lineup, Archibald has proved his ability to be a versatile option for Edmonton. Despite a small frame, he is tied for the team lead in hits and has found a home as one of the top penalty killers on the club.
The short term contract is fairly low-risk given his $1.5-million cap hit, but I think it’s safe to say we’ll see more solid production from the 27-year-old.
