Evander Kane, the seasoned forward for the Edmonton Oilers, reached a significant milestone in his illustrious career tonight as he stepped onto the ice for his 900th NHL game against the Los Angeles Kings. Kane, known for his tenacity, skill, and rambunctious style of play, has etched his name in the annals of hockey history with this remarkable achievement.
From his early days as a highly-touted prospect with the Vancouver Giants to his emergence as a dominant force on the ice, Kane has exemplified resilience and perseverance throughout his journey in the NHL. Drafted in the first round of the 2009 NHL Draft (4th overall) by the Atlanta Thrashers, Kane quickly made his mark with his dynamic style of play and natural scoring ability.
Over the years, Kane’s career has been punctuated by memorable performances, dazzling displays of skill, and a fierce competitive spirit that has earned him a reputation as a power forward among his teammates, opponents, and fans alike. Whether lighting the lamp with a heavy wrist shot or throwing his weight around with bone-crushing hits, Kane has consistently found ways to make an impact on the game and leave an indelible mark on the teams he’s played for.
As he reaches the 900-game mark, Kane stands as a testament to longevity and durability in a league that demands peak physical condition and mental fortitude, especially with how he plays the game. His crash-and-bang style, coupled with an undeniable knack for putting the puck in the net, has allowed him to thrive in one of the most demanding sports in the world.
Lacing up his skates for his 900th NHL game against the Kings, Kane does so despite his career arch taking several turns and twists along the way. Now with his fourth National Hockey League club, Kane reaches the 900-game milestone in the second year of a four-year deal that carries a $5.125 million AAV. Prior to tonight’s matchup versus the Kings, Kane has amassed 320 goals and 285 assists for 605 points to go along with 35 playoff points and 1155 career PIMs.
Kane signed a four-year, $20.5 million extension with the Oilers on July 22nd, 2022, after completing a one-year deal with the club upon his release from the San Jose Sharks.
