Fight Friday: The code abides

Hello out there, I’m on the air, it’s Hockey Fights today. This is a weekly feature where we will take a look back at the best tilts of the week that was, a fond look back at the fights that were, and a strong finger wag at the worst fight of the week.
Unlucky 13 is a lucky spot for you to come and check in on the fights of the week from Hockeyfights. This week added nine fights to the season total this year, now sitting at 144 bouts. The quality of the fights was high this week again according to the ratings. With the top three fights all being over 5.0 on the scale out of 10.
In this installment messing with the goalies, messing with the referees, and messing with bigger men than you.
Show me the tilts.

No. 3:

Brayden Point vs Dylan Larkin

Failed to load video.

This one ends far too early (more on that later…) but what did happen is pretty good stuff. Larkin gets busted open at some point here, but that don’t stop the young man. He unloads on Point until the fun police come in and stop this one.

No. 2:

Brenden Dillon vs Matt Hendricks

Failed to load video.

Is there anything going wrong for the Jets of Winnipeg right now? I can’t seem to find it. In this one Hendricks goes after a guy who’s four inches taller than him. Pretty unreal, if not expected from one of the toughest guys in the League. He even tags Dillon with a leak from the nose.

No. 1:

Josh Manson vs Sam Bennett

Failed to load video.

There is an unwritten code in hockey, don’t touch the goalies. Alright, it’s written as goalie interference, but you’re always going to be called to task. Never touch the goalies. Pretty simple age old rule in the NHL. Both Hathaway/Grant and Bennett/Manson decided to go for it. Can’t do anything but respect the fact the Flames protect their goalie.

Classic Fight of the Week:

Shawn Thornton vs Jay Rosehill

Mar 6, 2012

Failed to load video.

Two warriors of the game. Just tossing absolute bombs. Sit back and enjoy.

Finger Wag of the Week:

This is where we normally feature the one fight that probably deserved two minutes for occurring, rather than a major. Or a player that needs to be put on blast

Linesmen

Failed to load video.

I have been arguing for a while now that Hockeyfight’s slogan should be “Linesmen ruin everything.” This is the perfect example of this. I know Larkin had his nose busted open, but the guy was still chucking them. I know there was interference on Point’s head from a Wings player, but he was still going too. They just had to get in there and ruin the fun. I took the chance to poke some fun at them on social media, and I think they deserve the wag of a finger here.
