Seven players who once donned the Edmonton Oilers colours will be vying for the Stanley Cup in Edmonton, just not for the Oilers.

Sigh.

Andrew Cogliano, 33, is now playing for the Dallas Stars after spending eight years in Anaheim. For the Stars, Cogliano scored three goals and 14 points in 68 games this year playing 12:28 a night. It was among the lowest TOI totals in a season in his career.

Cogliano was drafted by the Oilers in the first round of the 2005 NHL draft and played four seasons for the team between 2007-2011. In 328 games in Edmonton, he scored 57 goals and 146 points. He’s played in 15 playoff games this year scoring no points.

Edmonton traded Cogliano to the Anaheim Ducks on July 12, 2011 for a second-round pick later used to select Marc-Olivier Roy.

Andrej Sekera, 34, is in his first season with Dallas where he scored two goals and nine points in 57 games playing 18 minutes a night. In the playoffs, his time on ice has dipped to 14:11 playing 16 games notching one assist. That assist, however, was a big one and came in game seven Friday night where he set up Joel Kiviranta’s overtime game-winner.

Sekera played for the Oilers for four seasons between 2015-2019 playing 221 games scoring 14 goals and 77 points.

Edmonton signed Sekera as a free agent on July 1, 2015, but bought out his contract last offseason.

Taylor Fedun, 32, is in his second season with the Stars and scored two goals and nine points from Dallas’ backend playing 13:45 a night. He’s played 11 games in the playoffs scoring no points playing 7:42 a night.

The Oilers signed Fedun as a free agent on March 8, 2011, and he played in four games for the team in 2013-14. In the 2011-12 preseason with the Oilers, Fedun broke his femur. He left the Oilers via free agency in 2014.

Jordan Eberle, 30, is now in his third year with the Islanders and this past season he scored 16 goals and 40 points playing 17:49 a night. In the playoffs this year, Eberle has shone in 16 games. He’s scored three points and 11 points.

He played for the Oilers between 2010 and 2017 scoring 165 goals and 382 points in 507 games.

A 2008 1st round draft pick of the Oilers, Edmonton traded Eberle to the Islanders on June 22, 2017 in exchange for Ryan Strome.

Pat Maroon, 32, is in his first year with the Lightning and appeared in 64 games this year. He scored nine goals and 23 points playing 12:25 a night. His ice time has claimed to 13:06 in the playoffs in 13 games scoring two assists.

Maroon joined the Oilers from the Anaheim Ducks in a Feb. 29, 2016 trade that saw the Oilers move Martin Gernat and a fourth-round pick.  In Edmonton, he appeared in 154 games scoring 49 goals and 86 points.

The Oilers traded Maroon to the New Jersey Devils in a Feb. 26, 2018 trade in which the Oilers acquired Joey Dudek and a 2019 3rd round pick.
