Friday Fights: If Only for a Week

Week 14 of the weekly recap of all the fights from across the league has a special theme involved in it. The weekly total this week is a whopping 19 fights bringing our year-to-date total up to a far more respectable 174 fights. Two nights with six fights each will for that for you. Thought the quality of the fights according to our ratings could improve, we’re not complaining one bit.

In this installment that one night in Dallas and the linesmen just keep finding a way to screw it up.

Wilson is a pit bull of a fighter and chalks up his tenth fight of the year. He sees his guy get creamed here, and immediately jumps to the defense of him. Deslauriers, to his credit stood toe to toe with a guy who is well versed in hockeyfights.

In what was an absolutely crazy game that started off with a big mistake of “being in the wrong place at the wrong time“. It then turned into a blow out on the scoreboard, and a punch-fest on the ice. Six total fights from one fight. Hasn’t been done since the clock turned over from the 2000’s into the 2010’s. A bunch of fights like this one with not your usual suspects. Partly because the league fighting minutes leader, Michael Haley was tossed from the game pretty early on.

 

 

Honestly, what can’t you say about a game in which there is six fights? It’s just pure magic. We had some fun, the players were absolutely having some fun (look at Stephen John’s face after his bout). We had a lot of fun with the fights over on our social media that night and always try to.

On this day in history, two years ago. Dorsett and Bass had a “who can punch the fastest and the most” competition. Who do you think was the winner?

This is where we normally feature the one fight that probably deserved two minutes for occurring, rather than a major. Or a player that needs to be put on blast

I come again to you now and wonder, is “linesmen ruin everything a good slogan for hockey fights. As if the reffing in the NHL wasn’t a disaster enough. the linesmen on a nightly basis go out and try and get the refs to hold their beer. In this fight we have a couple of guys going at it off the draw that fall. Usually the end of a fight that has gone on for a while. But both Kassian and Lomberg were up and ready to go still. Suddenly the zebras come in and Kassian ends up getting a misconduct because he punches one of them. Well, yea… that is what happens when you step into the middle of an on-going fight. Man the NHL has some serious problems to address.
