The only way for the Oilers to get past what’s happening to them right now is to battle through the pain until they eventually find the light at the other end of the tunnel — think Andy Dufresne at the end of Shawshank Redemption. Can you picture it? Doesn’t the analogy make sense? Dwelling on this rough start won’t get us anywhere regardless of what’s happened so far, and the best thing that could possibly happen to this team would be to find a way to win a game that maybe they shouldn’t. I know they just did it with the wins over the Islanders and Kraken, but I think it’s incredibly important to keep finding ways to win even if they shouldn’t. The more we’re able to get these greasy wins under the team’s belt, the more likely it will be that they’re able to win the ones they’re supposed to. But when it comes to betting on tonight’s game against the Panthers, I’m taking the conservative approach rather than getting overly bullish. Will it work out? We shall see.

If I’m being honest, I’m still mad about the way the Oilers lost Saturday’s game against the Lightning. They had that thing in the bag, but simply could not keep it together long enough to close out the win. It was another night where we should have been celebrating, only to have it blow up in our faces because of a comedy of errors.
