Risky Business: Happy Birthday, Connor!

On a day as cold as it is in Edmonton right now, nothing would warm my heart more effectively than seeing the Edmonton Oilers secure a 10th straight win. Seeing our boys beat Montreal for a franchise record winning streak would be like a warm blanket for the spirit, and I think it’s the least our boys could do given that they’re on the road and not having to deal with this. Not to mention, January 13th is Connor McDavid’s birthday, and what better gift could there be for our beloved captain than two more points on the pile? Streaks and birthdays aside, this game against Montreal is a massive opportunity for the Oilers to pick up two points against a team they should beat more often than not, and I’ll be expecting the boys to come through with 60 minutes worth of effort that the Canadiens can’t handle. Let’s be honest: Edmonton is the better hockey team, and this first matchup of the season against Les Habitants is a great chance to show it.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed out about Thursday’s game against the Red Wings as it was happening because Alex Lyon was doing everything he could to steal that thing for Detroit. Unfortunately, that performance meant that most of my bets didn’t hit even though I didn’t think I was betting all that aggressively to begin with.
