Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
After a quick stop at Rogers Place for Tuesday’s matchup against the Red Wings, the Oilers are back on the road for three games before wrapping up the month at home. The first stop on this roadie has the boy squaring off against the St. Louis Blues for the first of three meetings on the season as both clubs look to continue their run toward the playoffs.
From a Blues perspective, the team comes into tonight’s contest with a 7-3-0 record in their last 10 games but a very disappointing 4-1 loss in their last time out at the hands of the Maple Leafs. Yet, despite the lacklustre effort and lopsided result, the Blues have been very good since coming back from the all-star break and have outscored their opponents by an 11-4 margin.
Needless to say, the Oilers will need to bring a much better effort than we saw for 2/3 of the game against the Wings because it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be able to put up a five-goal third period to cover up their mistakes again. Rather than taking a period or two to get themselves going, the Oilers will need to come up with 60 strong minutes against St. Louis or run the risk of continuing this win-one-lose-one cycle they’re in right now.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I use for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the St. Louis Blues.

Player Prop:

Evan Bouchard over 2.5 shots on goal at +100. My $5 bet would return $10.00.

Easy Money:

Over 60.5 total shots on goal at -116. My $5 bet would return $9.34.

Risky Business:

Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl both to score at +300. My $5 bet would return $20.00.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Oilers to win and Connor McDavid to register 2+ points at +150. My $5 bet would return $12.50.

Last Game

It’s not very often that your boy goes 4/4 on his game day bets, but that’s exactly what happened after Tuesday’s win against the Detroit Red Wings. By no means was that win the prettiest game we’ll ever watch, but the five-goal outburst in the third period sure did a lot of heavy lifting for both the result and my bankroll.
Here’s what I bet against the Red Wings:
  • Evan Bouchard to register 1+ assist at +100. ✅
  • Over 62.5 total shots on goal at -116.✅
  • Zach Hyman anytime goal scorer at +115. ✅
  • Edmonton Oilers to win and Connor McDavid to register 2+ points at +125. ✅
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Detroit Red Wings.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
