The Edmonton Oilers finished off the year 2023 with a bang, as they slammed the Anaheim Ducks by a score of 7-2 to extend their winning streak to five games. Below are the highlights from the game.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

Ryan McLeod opened the scoring for the Oilers a few minutes into the first period. After not scoring a goal for the first 21 games of the season, he’s scored seven times in his last 13 games.
After Max Jones knotted the score at 1-1, Evander Kane put the Oilers back on top late in the first period with his 14th goal of the season.
The Oilers started to run away with the game in the second frame. Leon Draisaitl made the score 3-1 a couple of minutes into the period with his 17th goal of the year.
Warren Foegele added to that lead with a pair of goals in the second period. The first came on a nice tic-tac-toe passing play that started with Connor Brown, went to Darnell Nurse at the blueline, and was completed with a tap-in from Foegele.
The second goal from Foegele came in the final five minutes of the second and put the Oilers up by a score of 5-1. Anaheim goaltender John Gibson stopped a rocket from Leon Draisaitl but Ryan McLeod grabbed the rebound behind the net and fed it out front for Foegele, who buried his second of the game and seventh of the season.
Early in the third period, Mattias Ekholm dropped the gloves with former Oiler Ryan Strome.
The Ducks added a goal in the early part of the third period to make the score 5-2 but the Oilers added a couple more before the buzzer. Connor McDavid fed Zach Hyman for a partial break and he sniped his 21st goal of the season over John Gibson to make the score 6-2.
With just a few minutes left on the clock, Brett Kulak skated in from the point and hammered a shot past Gibson to give the Oilers a 7-2 lead. This goal led to some chaos in front of the net, as the Ducks are surely sick of being embarrassed by the Oilers. Edmonton has now outscored Anaheim 15-3 across two wins this season.
