Inside the Nation: Gretzky laying the groundwork, Currie to the rescue, and Puljujarvi’s surgery

Another Monday means another episode of Dustin Nielson’s Inside the Nation Facebook live video! Dusty is back from his time in Red Deer and is recording again from his home sweet home.

In today’s video, Nielson gives his take on Andrej Sekera’s return and what he’s brought to the team so far. He also talks about the importance of Reggie having a good offseason and coming back to the lineup better than ever. It would be a huge benefit to us if Sekera can come in and play top-four minutes next season.

In the news last week was an article written by Steve Simmons out of Toronto asking when McDavid is going to ask for a trade out of Edmonton. This obviously doesn’t sit well with Dusty, and he gives his spirited opinion on Simmons. Dusty also breaks down Josh Currie’s solid play during his time with the Oilers so far this season. Currie has shown that he’s a smart hockey player, and works hard for his spot on the roster.

Also discussed are the GM meetings coming up where it is said that Bob Nicholson will be there laying the groundwork for finding the future Oilers General Manager. I mean, you think one should have already begun laying the groundwork but hey, that’s none of my business. Lastly Dusty discusses Jesse Puljujarvi, as today is his surgery day. Will Puljujarvi get a second chance with the team next year to see what he can do on the ice with a fixed hip? Or will he get moved this summer because his trade value gets a slight bump due to the fact that he’s been playing with an injury? It’s tough to predict what will happen.

Dustin Nielson closes off the video with a Get Sauced trivia giveaway, along with the most important question of the day: The Condors top line becomes the Oilers third line of the roster next season, yay or nay?
